This is marvellously immersive, with the curved design of the environment (especially the blurred part in the foreground) effectively drawing us in. The vegetal / mineral / skeletal structure is impressive indeed, and it is understandable the two scavengers chose to ponder for a while before taking it on. They, too, form a wondrous pair. The man seems full of resolve and he certainly cuts a dashing figure, helped in this by a gorgeous armour and quite a hefty sword. But it is his vulpine-looking companion who really is the stand-out of this piece : all angular body, arcane apparel and wound-up strength, she is simultaneously alluring and threatening. That oblique look back at us is a clincher.
